SCPRSA is very excited to launch its New Professionals group this week with the group’s first event, “Meet Your Mentors.” Why this week in particular? Because PRSA chapters all across the country are celebrating New Pros Week – a celebration of all those young professionals out there, led by PRSA’s New Professionals Section.
We’re joining in on the week of festivities by celebrating South Carolina’s new pros. “Meet Your Mentors” will connect new pros for an evening of networking and give them the opportunity to meet with seasoned PR pros and chat through some of their burning career questions and gather some insight about what a career in PR can look like.
“Meet Your Mentors” is for those with five years or less experience, students and recent graduates and will be hosted in Greenville and Columbia on Thursday, August 4 at 5:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $5 for SCPRSA members, $8 for non-SCPRSA members. Click here to register.

Founder & Principal, Flourish Integrated Communications
Born and raised in Greenville, SC, Jamie Prince founded Flourish in 2009 after spending nearly fifteen years in marketing and corporate communications, serving in management positions at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and subsequently for The Cliffs. She has a knack for targeted idea generation and “seeing what’s missing” in an organization’s current marketing and communications plan.
Having had the good fortune of working under three different visionaries in their fields, Jamie leads by example and provides her clients with a warm honesty, keen sense of understanding, and passion for success. Jamie received a 2015 Leader Award by Business Black Box magazine for “Best Boss” and was named among Greenville Business Magazine’s “Best and Brightest: 35 and Under” in 2012 and has served as President of the Board of Directors for Carolina Ballet Theatre. She currently serves on Greenville Women Giving’s 2016-2017 Board of Directors, the Rose Ball Committee and Buncombe Street United Methodist Church’s Stewardship Committee. Jamie is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the AAF-Greenville Chapter, and she is a former officer and longtime member of the South Carolina Public Relations Society of America.
Additionally, Jamie is a graduate of Furman’s CONNECTIONS: Women Leaders of the Upstate program, as well as Leadership Greenville Class 33. Under her leadership, Flourish has grown to a team of 9 individuals, and has received top honors for work in integrated communications in South Carolina. Flourish’s community service has been recognized in its nomination for the 2013 TD Business and the Arts Partnership Awards, and by its contribution of pro bono work for organizations that include Greenville Women Giving, Carolina Ballet Theatre, and The Rose Ball, among others.
Jamie received her undergraduate degree from The Honors College at the University of South Carolina and attended New York Law School on full scholarship. She was a Phi Beta Kappa, and is an active alumna of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is married to the long-time love of her life, David Prince, and is the mother to three children, Reese (8), Jack and Emmy (5). She and her family are members of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church.
Public Relations Manager, Greenville Health System
Ms. Potter moved to Greenville in December 2005 and began working at GHS a few months later. In her 10 years at GHS, her focus has expanded to include news media relations, community relations, internal communications and social media management.
In her role as manager of public relations, Ms. Potter is responsible for building mutually beneficial relationships between the organization, its employees, patients and community. She is also instrumental in the development, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s PR plan and other internal or external initiatives that seek to enhance the organization’s image and reputation. Additionally, she manages the staff and resources required to meet these and other strategic organizational goals.
Prior to her arrival at GHS, Ms. Potter spent four years as an events and communications coordinator with The Women’s Center, Inc., a domestic violence shelter in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Although she was hired primarily to plan and implement fundraising events and activities, Ms. Potter quickly assumed responsibility for the organization’s public relations, marketing and communications efforts. Her biggest project during that time was helping gain financial support for a $3.2 million capital campaign to build a new shelter and promoting the benefits of a public versus private shelter to the organization’s key constituents. The campaign exceeded its goal, and a new shelter was built in 2003.
Outside of work, Ms. Potter serves as past president of the South Carolina Public Relations Society of America and volunteers weekly at the Greenville Literacy Association. She also recently served as president of the Upstate Carolina Alumnae Chapter of Delta Gamma. Before becoming president, she served three years as advisory team chairman for the Zeta Upsilon Chapter of Delta Gamma at Furman University. In this role, she supervised and provided guidance to more than 100 female collegians. She has also served on the Hands on Greenville Advisory Council, American Cancer Society Leadership Council and Greenville Rotaract Board of Directors.
Ms. Potter has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in communications from Marist College in New York, and her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America. She is a graduate of GHS’ Emerging Leaders Program and was named one of Greenville Business Magazine’s Best & Brightest 35 Under 35 in 2011.
Assistant Vice President of Public Relations, Palmetto Health Foundation
Ashley Dusenbury, APR is a public relations strategist with more than 22 years of experience in television, agency and non-profit settings. She has extensive experience in public relations research, planning, execution and evaluation as well as media relations and brand management.
As assistant vice president of Public Relations at Palmetto Health Foundation, Ashley directs strategic communications and digital presence for the Foundation and its signature fundraising events and initiatives benefiting Palmetto Health, the largest health care system in the Midlands of South Carolina.
Ashley has been a member of PRSA and SCPRSA for more than 20 years. She achieved the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation, has served SCPRSA as accreditation chair and is the 2016 president of the chapter. Her public relations work has been recognized numerous times with awards over the years, and she is being recognized this year as a 2016 University of South Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communications Distinguished Alumnus. Ashley also serves on the steering committee for the Alumni Society of the College of Information and Communications at the University of South Carolina.
Ashley and her husband, Jonathan, live in Irmo. They have two boys, Justin and Garrett, 14 and 9.
Independent Public Relations Consultant
Kelly Jackson Davis, APR has more than twenty years of experience in public relations, marketing and communications management. She is an independent public relations consultant in Columbia, South Carolina, focusing on strategic communications planning, brand development, issues management and grassroots advocacy.
Kelly has been recognized both for her work and her contributions to the public relations profession. She has received more than 50 awards for public relations campaigns and tactics, including the 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2012 Best in Show Awards from the South Carolina Chapter of PRSA. In 2007, SCPRSA named her the “W. Thomas Duke Distinguished Public Relations Practitioner of the Year,” just ten years after recognizing her as SCPRSA Rookie of the Year.
Kelly is an actively involved member of PRSA and a Champion for PRSSA. A past member of the PRSA Board of Directors, she served as the National Board Liaison to PRSSA in 2014 and currently serves as PRSSA’s National Professional Adviser. She has served the South Carolina Chapter of PRSA as Chapter President, Ethics Officer, Assembly Delegate and the chair of numerous committees, and will serve a second term as Chapter President in 2017. A member of the PRSA Counselors Academy, Kelly has also served as Chair of PRSA’s Independent Practitioners Alliance, Section Council Co-Chair and Secretary of the Southeast District.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and a Master of Mass Communications degree from the University of South Carolina. In 2015, the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at UofSC selected her as one of its Distinguished Alumni.
Executive Associate Athletics Director/Chief of Staff, University of South Carolina Athletics Department
In his current role, Bloom is a Senior Advisor to Athletics Director Ray Tanner and Chief Communications Officer for Gamecock athletics. Bloom was named Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs at Carolina on Oct. 24, 2012. Bloom serves as the sport administrator for softball and oversees media relations, ticket office, Gamecock Productions and the campus SEC Network operations. He was on the development team for the Gamecock Student-Athlete Promise, a document formalizing the commitments USC athletics makes to its student-athletes.
Before taking the post at Carolina, Bloom spent 17 years as director of the Southeastern Conference office's media and public relations efforts, and the last 10 years as Associate Commissioner. He supervised the media and public relations operations for the SEC's 21 sports, directly overseeing football, was the chief spokesperson for the conference office and oversaw the communication strategies for the office.
In addition, Bloom oversaw the editorial content and planning for the SECDigitalNetwork.com website and started the SEC office's presence in social media. He also served as media director for the SEC Football Championship Game and various other conference and NCAA championships. Bloom assisted with the creation of the Bowl Championship Series, including its formula for ranking teams and also developing its media relations policies and procedures. He also served as chief administrator for baseball in the SEC office, setting conference schedules, serving as liaison for the league's coaches and umpires and overseeing game operations with the conference tournament.
Bloom, a native of Emporia, Va., came to the Southeastern Conference from East Carolina University where he served as Sports Information Director/Assistant Athletics Director from 1988-95. Prior to joining the ECU staff, he was an associate SID at Ole Miss from 1987-88 and an assistant SID at LSU from 1985-87.
A 1985 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Bloom served as an undergraduate and graduate assistant in the Gamecock SID office. He also worked as a student assistant in the SID office as an undergraduate at UNLV.
Bloom is currently a member of the Football Writers Association of America, the United States Basketball Writers Association, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (past president), Public Relations Society of America, and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. He is a past president and chair of the Division I Management Advisory Committee of the College Sports Information Directors of America, past president of the Alabama Public Relations Society of America chapter, and past board member of the Entertainment and Sports Sections of PRSA and the Public Relations Committee of the Football Bowl Association. Bloom was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame in June 2011.
Since 2013, Bloom is the University of South Carolina's chairperson for the United Way of the Midlands campus-wide campaign and is the current community chair for the Loaned Staff Program of United Way, a similar position also held while in the Birmingham community. Bloom served on the Steering Committee of Uplifting Athletes from 2010-2013 and assisted with the creation and operation of USC's UA chapter. Bloom and his wife, Cindy, are parents of two children - daughter, Lindsey, and son, Max.
