We know the world of public relations can
present unique challenges and situations, but were you aware that the public
relations profession has a Code of Ethics that governs the work that we do?
September is Ethics Awareness Month, and
this year’s Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) theme is “Ethics, the
Heart of Leadership.” Ethics Awareness Month seeks to inform and educate the
public relations profession about ongoing issues and concerns regarding PR
ethics, as such the South Carolina chapter is excited to share information and
create engaging dialogue throughout the month around this important topic.
Be sure to friend, follow and like us to
become engaged in the conversation.
There are also a number of activities
planned at the national level including blog posts, Twitter chats that are open to all public relations
professionals, webinars and series of cooperative efforts with PRSA. There
truly is a resource and platform for everyone.
Brush up on your ethics knowledge with
PRSA's ethics
resources,
and read commentary on ethical standards in PR here.
Please feel free to join in any of the
conversations, and, if there is ever a time you find yourself in an ethical
dillema, please don’t hesitate to seek counsel from the PRSA Board of
Ethics and Professional Standards or contact our South Carolina Chapter
Ethics Officer, Adrienne R. Fairwell, APR.
