Facebook hits the market on Friday
By Kimberly Juday, media relations manager at Rawle Murdy
The sale of Facebook shares has been met with a resounding
thud of trepidation by the world.
Some question if Facebook
is a fad.
Others don’t believe that a social media outlet could be
ranked with such long-standing brands as Disney, Ford or Kraft.
And others have been so burned by the market and ‘hot’
stocks to invest in, that they’d rather turn their heads to it all and avoid
the financial bloodshed they foresee.
What do you think? Are the odds in the proverbial house’s
favor? Do we need to take a moment, count to 10, see what Kramer is screaming
about this week instead?
Those on the flipside – the ones chomping at the bit to get
a taste of Facebook action, believe that the nine-year-old company will
continue to grow fans.
They believe it will continue to lead in geotargeting
advertising.
And folks just won’t be able to resist sharing pictures of
their dinner, babies and “glamour” shots. And Farmville will never die.
As an avid Facebook user and previous stock market loser
(Circa 2000 and repeated in 2008,) I’m torn on this one. Do you bet on red or
black? I can either be that idiot that didn’t buy Facebook when it first went
public or that insightful genius who knew it was a bad idea and put my money
elsewhere. I’ve got a few more hours to sleep on it. What’s your advice?
