SCPRSA Adds Social Media Award Category to its Annual Mercury Awards

Public relations successes and standouts to be named in May

The South Carolina Public Relations Society of America (SCPRSA) is pleased to announce the addition of the Jupiter Award to the 2012 SCPRSA Mercury and Silver Wing Awards categories. The Jupiter Award will recognize individual excellence in social media management. Collectively, the organization’s Mercury and Silver Wing Awards honor outstanding performance in the public relations and communication fields.

The submission deadline for these categories is Monday, Feb. 13. Nominations for the Jupiter Award, along with the four other Individual Award categories, are due Feb. 20.

The 2012 SCPRSA Mercury Awards will celebrate the winners on May 3, at the Historic Springdale House and Gardens in West Columbia, S.C.

“We’re excited to introduce the newest Mercury Award category for individual excellence in social media management,” said SCPRSA Mercury Award Chair Kelly Davis. “Social media has developed into a crucial aspect of the public relations and communication fields, and it’s important that we be able to recognize successes in this arena.”
